President, United Heartland
Stephan Cooper is president of United Heartland, headquartered in New Berlin, Wis. As president, Cooper oversees a leading regional workers’ compensation carrier specializing in the following industry segments: education, health care, long-term care facilities, manufacturing, nonprofits, social services and wholesale/retail. United Heartland’s high-touch service model and broad experience allows it to be nimble and responsive to effectively manage large accounts with complex needs.
Cooper joined United Heartland in 2010, bringing 25 years of property-casualty experience to the position. Prior to his appointment as president, he served as vice president of Claim Operations & TPA for Accident Fund Insurance Company of America. He’s also held various service center and claims leadership positions at Specialty Underwriters Alliance, General Electric Insurance Solutions, Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and Travelers Insurance Company.
Cooper served in the United States Navy and holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Central Michigan University and a Master of Business Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University. Believing it’s important to make a personal impact in the communities in which he lives and works, he serves on a number of boards, including LindenGrove, La Casa De Esperanza, St. Anne’s and the Waukesha Business Alliance.
